“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
It is almost certain that you have lost a loved one, or someone who meant a lot to you. How did you deal with the grief? How did you find the strength to pick up the pieces and move on? Trust me, everything you have felt, feel and will feel are completely normal emotions. I’m here to encourage you today that our joy, hope and strength are in the Lord. Take heart, you are not alone the Holy Spirit is your standby, advocate and counselor. “But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.” John 14:26 (AMPC)
It is easy to forget about God when we are faced with the most difficult and trying times, but that is when it is most important to draw nearer to Him because He is our strength. Psalms 23:4 says “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (NIV). Don’t forget God, it pains Him so much when you are hurting because He never wants that for you.
Hold to the hope that the dead in Christ shall rise again and we shall be with the ones we love once more. Remember also that death is not the cessation of existence but the physical separation from us until the day Jesus returns. Our loved ones are in the realm of the Spirit watching over us. Even though we cannot physically touch them anymore but their presence is with us as we travel the journey of life. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Rev 21:4 (ESV)
Be comforted in knowing that everything that God does is according to His perfect will for your life and He will never give you a test bigger than you can handle. “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.” 1 Cor 10:13 (MSG)
So be encouraged dear friend. You ask yourself “Why me?” But the real question is “WHY NOT YOU?” God gives pain you can handle because He is confident that you will not turn away from Him no-matter what life throws at you! Remember He fights some battles you don’t even know you are facing! So buckle up, life is for the living. Live don’t exist. I love you.
